For the second issue of Empty Promises, I collaborated closely with Creative Director Thein Cordero to bring her vision to life. I photographed and designed the cover, opening and closing spreads, the "Papercuts" spread, and the back cover. The “Papercuts” concept explores the feeling of childhood innocence, and to capture this tone, we worked with both medium format and 35mm film.
Across the full zine, I partnered with Eleanor Klein (April’s Daydream) and Pedro Zapparoli (Bittersweet), ensuring that each concept flowed cohesively into the next. I selected a typewriter-style serif font—reminiscent of screenplay formatting—to reflect the idea that these life stages are universal, almost as if they’ve already been written for us.
In the "Papercuts" spread, I incorporated circular elements to evoke bubbles, symbolizing childhood—something delicate, beautiful, and fleeting.
